JOB DESCRIPTION

CONTROLLER

Rapidly expanding Construction firm seeking a highly organized hands-on Controller to manage accounting and financial operations. This role is responsible for performing the day-to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for assigned functional areas. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem-solver with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Controller Responsibilities:

  • Comfortable handling all day to day transactions including issuing purchase orders, AP and AR.
  • Work closely with Vendors to timely and accurately true-up all project related costs.
  • Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for assigned functional areas.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries into financial systems and document business transactions.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to other members of the team.
  • Review all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist with preparation and review of financial statements.
  • Check disbursements and reconciliation.
  • Reconcile Bank accounts to General Ledger monthly.
  • Assist with year-end audit deliverables and requests.
  • Analyze costs and profits
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations
  • Provide supervision and guidance to other members of the team.

Controller Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Accounting Required
  • Strong knowledge in Construction Accounting and Job Costing Required
  • 5-7 years related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and legislation
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger accounts payable, accounts receivable and job costing functions
  • Experience with cash management and risk assessment.
  • Good knowledge of accounting software & construction software.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Annual budget preparation.
